John R. Beck

UNC School of the Arts / Winston-Salem Symphony

John R. Beck serves on the faculties of the University of North Carolina School of the Arts and Wake Forest University, and is a performer with the Winston-Salem and Greensboro Symphony orchestras, Brass Band of Battle Creek, the Philidor Percussion Group, and the Blue Mountain Ensemble. Beck is a Past President of the Percussive Arts Society and holds degrees from the Oberlin Conservatory and the Eastman School of Music. He is a recipient of the 2018 League of American Orchestras Ford Musician Award for Excellence in Community Service for his work in hospital research using group drumming with cancer patients.
