Washington National Opera, Kennedy Center Opera House Orchestra

Principal percussionist of the Kennedy Center Opera House Orchestra since 2000, John Spirtas and the KCOHO perform with the Washington Opera, world renowned ballet companies such as the Kirov, Bolshoi and Royal Ballets, and touring Broadway productions. John has performed in over 20 Kennedy Center Honors.

Prior to joining the KCOHO, John was a member of the New World Symphony. John is on faculty at George Mason University, Washington Adventist University and Catholic University.

A graduate of the University of Michigan and the New England Conservatory, John studied with Alan Abel, Will Hudgins, Michael Udow, Salvatore Rabbio, and Nora Davenport.
