John Tafoya serves as Chair and Professor of Percussion at Indiana University's Jacobs School of Music. He has held previous principal timpani positions with the National Symphony Orchestra, Florida Philharmonic Orchestra, the Evansville Philharmonic, and the Owensboro Symphony. Tafoya has also performed and recorded with the Baltimore and Detroit Symphony Orchestras. An active educator and sought after clinician, Tafoya has presented numerous master classes and clinics across the United States. He has also been a featured clinician at PASIC (Percussive Arts Society International Convention) 2002, 2006, 2011 and 2018.
