Manuel Caffarena

Manuel Caffarena

Independent

I was born in Argentina but have lived in Mexico since 2002. I'm a drummer and percussionist, and started at 16 years in Argentina. I studied in Manuel de Falla Conservatory and Pedro Esnaola Conservatory, took private lessons with Chiche Heger and assisted with many clinics. I have played as session drummer with Stu Hamm, Ely Guerra, Panteon Rococo, Pato Banton, Lumumba, Dawn Penn, etc.

I have given clinics throughout Central and South America, and shared tours with Aaron Spears, Eric Moore, Mat Greiner, Gregg Bissonette, Dennis Chambers and Mike Mangini.

I am currently a drummer and percussionist for sessions and a product specialist for Zildjian Latin America.

I do tours, clinics, shows and recordings face-to-face or remotely, and I am constantly investigating the beautiful path of music, life, nature and percussion.

  • WHAT INSPIRES YOU?

From the first day I heard a drum my heart vibrated in another way, and I continue to this day. I am inspired by challenges, trying to improve daily by thinking about music and expressing my feelings and connections with nature, my emotions and my around. As Bob Marley said, "We free our people with music".

  • WORDS OF WISDOM FOR THE NEXT GENERATION OF DRUMMERS

Study with a personal teacher. Listen to all the music you can. Analyze music, not just drummers. Learn musical forms, love music, love your instrument. Play with as many people as you can. Learn to record yourself and balance your playing. Be kind and thankful - not everyone can be a drummer.

  • FAVORITE ZILDJIAN CYMBAL/COMBO
