Noah Kahan

From Puerto Rico, by way of Boston, Marcos is a new resident to Nashville, TN.  Marcos Valles' 20 year career as a musician includes being a drummer, singer, songwriter, producer, and kids content creator.  His works have been featured in various TV shows and films. He has also played and toured the world supporting acts such as James Bay, George Ezra, and Leon Bridges.  For the past several years, Marcos has been the touring drummer for Universal Republic Artist, Noah Kahan.  He is currently on the road with Noah through 2024 for their sold out "Stick Season" tour.

  • WHAT INSPIRES YOU?

    I'm inspired every day by other drummers. There is nothing more humbling than opening up your Instagram and seeing all these amazing drummers. They inspire me every single day to get on the set and learn something new. On top of that, I'm inspired by the other musicians in my group. You want to be the best for them and vice versa. Current drummers I've been into: Garrett P. Tyler, Jeff Randall, Nate Smith, Petar Janjic.

  • WORDS OF WISDOM FOR THE NEXT GENERATION OF DRUMMERS

    Listen, practice, repeat. Most important part to me is to listen back to your performances--sometimes it's the hardest thing to do because you hear back all the things you did wrong haha, but in my opinion, it's the only way you get better. God is in the details and that's what listening does--you get to listen back to those details and get better. That being said, forgive yourself and most importantly, play with your heart and listen to everyone else in the band.

    I really love Zildjian Sweets and have been playing them for a bit, but I've been currently hooked on Paper Thins and they have been fitting so well into Noah's sound. Also, I love my new 22" K Constantinople Thin Overhammered Ride.
