Jarvis 'Jeb' Barnes

Tate McRae

Born and raised in Dover, Delaware. I grew up loving music and how different genres of music could and would alter how I felt. Immediately , I became infatuated with art forms bebop and big band. I attended Berklee college of music in Boston,MA where I learned the basics of playing R&B & Pop Music.

After leaving Berklee, spent some time in Philadelphia, PA then shifted to Los Angeles, CA. Moving to LA was the best thing I could have done for my career and skills. It forced me outside my comfort zone pushed me to become a better musician, drummer, and person.

I've had the privilege of playing with some iconic artist, work with some of my favorite musicians and most important meet some of my best friends.

  • WHAT INSPIRES YOU?

My friends! My friends are genius'. They push me to be better in so many ways. Personally I never want to be the weak link in my friend group so I try to stay up on my skills. I never want them to hesitate to call me as friend and colleagues. I also want to be able to add value to all rooms I'm invited to be in musically.

  • WORDS OF WISDOM FOR THE NEXT GENERATION OF DRUMMERS

There's 3 Reasons you're not working at the level you want. If you can develop all 3 of these things you'll always be in the conversation. 1. Professional/Skill on your instrument: You must be proficient on your instrument & understand your gear. Being able to adapt to what the artist wants, musical director or anyone else calling musical shot is important. 2. Be a good person: Everyone want to work with good, fun, reliable people. You must be fun to be around, reliable, trustworthy etc. 3. Network: You can be amazing on your instrument and a good person but if the people doing the hiring do not know that about you that information does matter. You must build you a network of musicians, musical directors, creative directors, dancers etc. The more people that know you that could put your name in the hat for drawing is important. If you have all 3 of those things you will work.
