BS Arun Kumar, inspired by his father Sukumar's drumming took to music at a very young age. He has studied percussion in the Carnatic classical tradition under SV Giridhar and Anoor Anantha Krishna Sharma. Arun also has studied jazz drumming under Ranjit Barot.
Arun's musical interests are eclectic. He plays the jazz drums along with Indian classical musicians. He plays with many percussion ensembles. He has been performing since the last 25 years across the world, in places like Hong Kong, Germany, Holland, France, Switzerland, UK, Belgium, Spain, Luxemburg, South Africa, Sri Lanka, U.S.A and Canada and at prestigious venues like Algeria jazz festival, Cape Town Jazz festival, UN and WHO Geneva. He has founded a percussion band Layatharanga and regularly performs with them too.
Arun has been training many young drummers and regularly conducts concerts to showcase their talents.
