Benny Reiner is a Grammy-award-winning and multi-platinum-selling drummer and percussionist born and raised in Jonesboro, Arkansas. He has held residence in Memphis, Nashville, and currently splits his time between New York City and Los Angeles. He is a graduate of The New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music. There he was a student of drum masters such as Shawn Pelton, Ari Hoenig, Andrew Cyrille, and Amir Ziv.
Reiner has worked with the likes of Hamilton, Lauv, Max Martin, Kate McKinnon, Chaz French, Questlove, Megan & Liz, !llmind, Snarky Puppy Horns, Jeff Coffin, Tommy Stinson, Daniella Mason, Brennan Villines, Sizzy Rocket, Berhana, and many more.
He is the original and current Percussionist in the award-winning, critically-acclaimed Broadway musical, Hamilton. With Hamilton he has performed on the Grammy Awards, the Tony Awards, as well as at the Obama White House. In addition to performing, Reiner has written, composed, and produced a plethora of recordings for records as well as film and television. His first hit was in 2013 with Japanese R&B star AI which went RIAJ Certified Gold. He composed and produced the score for Kate McKinnons Audible Original and New York Times Best Selling podcast series titled Heads Will Roll. He has written music for networks and studios such as Sony, Fox, CBS, Discovery, MTV, VH1, Netflix, and Broadway Video, and movies like Spider-Man, Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates and Keeping up with the Joneses, and television shows like 48 Hours On Assignment, and Sesame Street. He has written music for advertisement for brands such as Gatorade, Dos Equis, NFL, Verizon, Chrysler, and more.
