  • WHAT INSPIRES YOU?

What inspires me most are my students—their curiosity, determination, and growth remind me daily of why I do what I do. Watching them discover their own voices through music fuels my passion for teaching and performing. I’m also deeply inspired by the ongoing need for equity and representation within the field of percussion. Creating spaces where all voices are heard and valued motivates me to continue advocating for meaningful change. And, of course, witnessing the artistry of incredible performers—both peers and pioneers—continually pushes me to grow, experiment, and elevate my own musicianship.

  • WORDS OF WISDOM FOR THE NEXT GENERATION OF DRUMMERS

Stay curious—never stop asking questions or exploring new sounds, styles, and ideas. The moment you feel like you’ve “arrived” is the moment you stop growing, so keep pushing yourself to learn and evolve as both a musician and a person. Most importantly, remember that percussion is about connection. Whether you’re playing in a solo recital, an ensemble, or a jam session, use your drumming to communicate, listen, and build community. The relationships you form through music will shape you just as much as the notes you play.

  • FAVORITE ZILDJIAN CYMBAL/COMBO

K Symphonic and Constantinople Orchestral hand cymbals and suspended cymbals are my go-to for any orchestral playing.
