Pablo Rieppi, originally from Uruguay, is prominent in New York’s music scene, where he is a New York City Ballet Orchestra member. He is the Percussion Department Coordinator and Instructor at The Juilliard School's Pre-College Division and Music Advancement Program. Mr. Rieppi recently joined the University of Miami Frost School of Music percussion faculty and is an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Percussion at Hofstra University.
Mr. Rieppi is a regular guest with New York Philharmonic. He has performed with numerous esteemed NYC ensembles, in Broadway shows (West Wide Story, The King and I, and Legally Blonde), and on many film soundtracks (including Steven Spielberg’s West Side Story, Gemini Man, You’ve Got Mail, Noah, and Il Postino).His collaborations with Joe Zawinul, Aretha Franklin, and The Who, among others, showcase his diversity and adaptability.
Pablo Rieppi's dedication to music education is evident in his roles at The Juilliard School, Hofstra University, SUNY Purchase, Oberlin Conservatory, and Columbia University. His founding of Percussion On The Sound (POTS!) and teaching at The Percussion Conservatory underscore his significant contribution to music education.
His compositions include the award-winning soundtrack for Blackballed: The Bobby Dukes Story and Rage and Peace for percussion ensemble. His book Snare Drum Technique: Essential Basics for Daily Practice was notably mentioned in the March 2015 issue of Percussive Notes Magazine. The Rite from 12 Modern Timpani Solos is required repertoire for New Jersey All-State auditions. Other publications include Rhythmic Roots and Accompaniment Music for Solo Snare Drum, Vol. 1.
Mr. Rieppi holds degrees from The Juilliard School and George Mason University and an Honorary Doctorate from Five Towns College. He proudly endorses Innovative Percussion, Yamaha, and Zildjian instruments.
Mr. Rieppi is the President of the Percussive Arts Society New York Chapter.
