My career started in the Bay Area. After graduating with a BA degree, I moved to Los Angeles to join the Don Ellis Big Band. From there, I joined Frank Zappa and the Mothers of Invention. I had an association, both recording and on the road with Seals and Crofts, Al Jarreau, The Manhattan Transfer, Babaghanoush, The Outsidemen. I have taught privately and publicly, primarily at the Musicians Institute (1980-1996) and the Los Angeles College of Music (1996-present). I like music that is both good and challenging.
