I have been drumming in bands for over 20 years and was very fortunate growing up as my dad was a session musician. Having a view from side of stage or from an orchestra pit and going on to work behind the scenes in shows and pantos gave me a real passion for music.
My love grew even stronger when my old music teacher stormed into my geography class when I was 13, furious that I hadn't chosen music for exams. He pulled me out of that class, explained I wasn't returning and would ring my parents to let them know. He then escorted me to the music room and my first lesson was to open loads of large boxes and set up what turned out to be a drum kit. We tuned the kit by ear as he sat on the piano then jammed 'Shine Jesus Shine' and 'Hey Jude'. I owe a lot to Mr. Jones and his encouragement.
Around the same time grunge was exploding and my urge to jam and be in a band was all I could think of. Albums like Nevermind, Dookie and artists like The Police and Queen were feeding my appetite to hit the drums and pursue a career.
I have been fortunate to share the stage with some incredible artists over the years, but recently having chart success (UK Top 20 Album) with Those Damn Crows and being asked back to play the main stage of Download Festival in 2022 are just some of the many special highlights.
