Born into a musical family started attempting to play drums at age 3-1/2 yrs old after seeing my dad rehearse his Dixieland band in the living room of our house. He had just engaged a young drummer named Dave Rogers who had a Ludwig Super Classic drum kit and I was mesmerized by the hit going up and down, the kick pedal action and the bright chrome snare drum and the sound it made. He was a wonderful player and my first drumming idol. First played with dad's band at age 6 at a BBC studio in London - I still have the recording! Sat in with the band a few times over the next few years until I joined in 1969 at 12 years old. That makes this year, 2019, my 50th year as a professional musician!
