Born in Innsbruck / Austria, Stefan Schwarzenberger grew up in a musical family. He studied percussion and singing at the local Conservatory in Innsbruck and joined a six-week program at Drummers Collective in New York City. He founded the percussion group œthe next step, specialized in contempory music - collaboratios with:DJ Spooky, Jarrod Cagwin, Nik Ba¤rtsch, Gyorgy Kurtag, Georg Friedrich Haas, Wolfgang Mitterer and Sofia Gubaidulina. Stefan founded the international Percussionfestival in Telfs in Tirol. He is currently teaching at Musikschule Telfs, conducting and managing PANergy steelorchestra and playing with the Vienna Chamber orchestra as an independent percussionist.
