Like many drummers, I was a pot-and-pan enthusiast until I got my first toy drumset at age 10. As I began to gravitate towards jazz music, it became clear that there was only one serious name in cymbals, and it began with a "Z". If you had a jazz hero whose sound you loved, then you loved Zildjian. That sound has inspired me since I was a boy, and continues to inspire me now.

  • WHAT INSPIRES YOU?

The historical masters of the past were visionaries whose achievements never cease to amaze and inspire me. Modern players inspire me in how they have taken the tradition and made it their own. Beyond music, I am inspired by other artforms, as well as the contemplation of forms of life. That may sound out, but hey...I'm a philosopher, too!

  • WORDS OF WISDOM FOR THE NEXT GENERATION OF DRUMMERS

You CANNOT develop any great depth of understanding of the drumset unless and until you listen passionately to the the historic masters. They are the foundation of all our efforts, and represent the ultimate instruction. This means that you must develop your ears as well as your hands and feet. There is simply no other way. This is actually good news!

  • FAVORITE ZILDJIAN CYMBAL/COMBO

The pairing of 20" and 22" K Constantinople rides will give you an outstanding versatile combination of sounds and textures.
