Trash Smash Versatility

"I have had the 19” K Custom Hybrid Trash Smash cymbal for a few years now and love its’ versatility as an effects cymbal, quick crash, and washy dark ride cymbal all in one. For a while I’ve played a 22 K Custom med / heavy ride. This has a great bell, very clear stick definition and warmness. But it lacks the washy overtones and crash ability you have in other K rides. I was about to swap it out for a K. Constantinople ride but just didn’t want to part with the K Custom Ride characteristics I’ve loved for years. So I tried adding the trash smash and it has really allowed me to cover a huge amount of sounds. When used as a ride it has a great washy tone and crashes beautifully as well. On multiple low volume occasions and practices I’ve taken only hi hats and this cymbal. In this situation I am amazed how many different sounds you can get from it."
