  • WHAT INSPIRES YOU?

What inspires me? Of course I have been inspired my numerous musicians, including my parents who both had careers in music. I am also inspired by a good song or piece of music and enjoy coming up with a way to further orchestrate that on the drumset. Even the harmonic sound of a piece might affect what I think of playing. At a rehearsal, I may experiment with different approaches.

  • WORDS OF WISDOM FOR THE NEXT GENERATION OF DRUMMERS

I do recommend for younger musicians that they listen to a wide variety of music. Also, for drummers, when you listen to music, don't just focus on the drums...listen to the whole music, and appreciate what all the musicians are doing. When you play with a band, don't just focus on what you are doing, try to hear the music as a whole.

  • FAVORITE ZILDJIAN CYMBAL/COMBO

Of course I like playing the K Custom Dry Complex Cymbals that I helped Zildjian design a few years ago. I like the 20" K light flatride, and have one that is so colorful that I primarily use it as a crash/color cymbal. I don't normally play them, but I do appreciate the Renaissance, Bounce, and Kerope cymbal of the K line.
