Justin Swiney aka Unkle Nephew, Drummer/Producer/Mix Engineer from Brooklyn, New York got his start in music at the early age of 3 years old. Justin was formally trained at Susan E Wagner High School and later SAE Institute for Audio Engineering. In December of 2017, Justin began touring with Hypnotic Brass Ensemble (2017-2019). Since then, Justin has toured Europe, South America, Asia and Australia. In addition to performing with Hypnotic Brass Ensemble, Justin has performed with Blackstar (Yasiin Bey aka Mos Def & Talib Kweli) and opened for the Gorillaz.
Since 2017, Justin has been a side man with FKAjazz, Soul Science Lab, Kendra Foster, Amanda Seales and more recently with Sam Greenfield. Justin has been Sam’s Touring and recording drummer since 2022 and mixing engineer on his upcoming 2025 album. Aside from touring, Justin has worked extensively In the wedding and corporate band industry. Working with companies such as Around Town Entertainment, Cafe Wa? ENT, Hudson Horns, 45 Riots and more recently full time with Elan Artist (SoundHouse).
In 2018, Justin produced and released BD3’s “Time.Era.Period” album. Following the release of that album, Unkle Nephew (Justin) partnered with BD3 on Sunnydale (2020) & Sunnydale II (2024) having produced and mixed both albums.
