Born in Kabul, Afghanistan with classical training on Tablas with his master Sufi Lahli, Hakim Ludin began his professional career with a classical education at the conservatory of Karlsruhe, Germany. Since then, he has developed his own style and showed his influence in numerous Jazz and Avantgarde ensembles. Hakim Ludin has established a new level of percussive work that is well-appreciated by an international audience.
Hakim Ludin has worked with international stellar jazz musicians such as Jeff Hamilton, Lenny Castro, Steve Smith, Luis Conte and Zappas drummer, Terry Bozzio.
His collaboration with one of Germanys leading singers Konstantin Wecker has brought a wider public attention to Hakim Ludins percussion within the German speaking countries.
Since 1998 he is a member of ZARBANG ensemble performing at international festivals such as 'Sounds of Arabia', Abu Dhabi (2010) and 'The silk road festival', Hongkong (2009).
Also, Hakim Ludin has become an internationally demanded percussion tutor and musical director of œthe mother of international drum camps in Bavaria, Germany, as well as a tutor at festivals in Warschau and Luxemburg (2009). He has published a series of several DVDs on percussion instruments, which were published worldwide by Hudson Music.
In 2018, he was on tour with one of the biggest German musicians Peter Maffay on his MTV Unplugged Tour. In 2019, he visited one of the biggest musical teaching institutions of America, The Drum Channel, where he got interviewed by the drum master Don Lombardi, and afterward gave a cajon workshop. He was a docent as well at the international drums and percussion camp in Paderborn where Al Schmitt, Simon Phillips and Tal Bergmann were invited.
