Being surrounded by music from an early age gave me an affinity towards anything that could sit in the pocket. Whether it was Randy Brecker, Incubus, The Mars Volta or Good Riddance, creative music and playing that knew its lane and kept it tight was what drew me in. To this day it keeps me eager in pursuing my love for drums and the creative output it provides.

The continual recognition of unconventional players. People pushing the creative boundaries breathes life into something that can be so tiring and hard work. Also DIY ethics and death metal. Doing it DIY and hectic death metal is king.

Be yourself. People will pigeon hole what genres you can play based on your skill set. Just because you might not fit into the “mould” of metal, country music or jazz doesn’t mean you don’t have a place there.
