Neil Robinson

Neil Robinson

Marty Wilde / Independant

I turned professional at the age of 16 gaining my first TV, Radio and touring experience including a performance at the New York Jazz Festival when I was 19. I joined the James Taylor Quartet in 1992 and I toured, recorded and performed on TV extensively with them until 2007. Highlights include a ten week residency on the Gaby Roslin chat show backing great artists such as Ian Dury. Since 2007, I have set my own successful teaching business and have composed many pieces for the Trinity College London exam syllabus. I currently record and tour with Marty Wilde and regularly record library albums for Universal and KPM.

  • WHAT INSPIRES YOU?

Funk, Soul and Jazz Fusion. Love discovering new artists and music with inspiring rhythms and sounds.

  • WORDS OF WISDOM FOR THE NEXT GENERATION OF DRUMMERS

When playing in a live or recording situation, don't overplay. Play what's required for the music and keep in your own lane. Focus on keeping good time. Don't be led, let the other band members follow you.

  • FAVORITE ZILDJIAN CYMBAL/COMBO

14'' New beats and 22'' K Ride for all round usability. They have never failed me yet.
