Tony Arco is one of the most renowned Italian Jazz drummers. He has spent several years in the U.S. studying with great drummers like Gary Chaffee, Alan Dawson and Bob Moses, and more recently has done some work with Dave Weckl and Bruce Becker concerning Freddie Grubers concepts. Great musicians such as Dave Liebman, Andrew Hill, Max Roach and Hank Jones have spoken highly about his playing. As a sought-after teacher, his methods are generally considered a reference for students. He is involved in top-level artistic projects in Italy and internationally. Concert performances to date include playing with: Mark Murphy, Bobby Watson, Kenny Barron, Charles Tolliver, Tony Scott, Dave Liebman, James Newton, Carl Anderson, Enrico Rava, Paolo Fresu, Marcus Stockhausen, David Murray, Eddie Daniels, Joe Diorio, Evan Parker, Billy Cobham, Airto Moreira, Phil Markowitz, Sonny Fortune, Roy Hargrove, John Medesky, George Garzone, Emil Richards, Bob Mintzer and Kenny Wheeler. As a leader he has recorded with his Time Percussion group: œA Journey Within, and Time Percussion with Franco D'Andrea, œLive at Iseo Jazz Festival, as well as œIt's About Time with his own Tony Arco Quartet. At present, he is co-leader of the Cues Trio whose recordings include: œIntroducing Cues Trio, œFeel: Cues Trio meets Dave Liebman, and their two latest Verve records, œDream of Nite and œNegative Space, a live recording with saxophonist Dave Liebman. He has also authored two instructional books and DVDs on drum and rhythm section techniques (2006, Ricordi - MGB Publications).
