After taking his diploma in percussion at the œG. Ghedini Conservatory in Cuneo with Riccardo Balbinutti, he attended a two-year master course at the Accademia Internazionale di Musica in Milan. Thanks to a grant from De Sono Associazione per la Musica, he completed his training with Emmanuel Sejourna¨ at the Strasbourg Conservatoire National, and with Gustavo Gimeno, percussionist at the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra. In 2001, he was honoured with the Yamaha Scholarship Award. As an orchestra percussionist, he has worked with the Orchestra of the Accademia di Santa Cecilia, Orchestra Mozart, Orchestra del Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, Filarmonica del Teatro alla Scala, the RAI National Symphony Orchestra, Filarmonica Arturo Toscanini in Parma, Rome Teatro dellOpera, Venice Teatro La Fenice, Teatro San Carlo in Naples, and Bologna Teatro Comunale, and with such conductors as Antonio Pappano, Zubin Mehta, Claudio Abbado, Seiji Ozawa, Lorin Maazel, Yuri Temirkanov, Mstislav Rostropovich, Myung-Whun Chung, Riccardo Chailly, George Pretre, Kurt Masur, Daniele Gatti, Gustavo Dudamel, Daniel Harding, and Tan Dun.
He has worked with a number of chamber groups specializing in contemporary music, as well as with percussion ensembles, including Divertimento Ensemble and Demoa¨ Percussion Ensemble, and ancient music groups such as Zefiro and Toronto Tafelmusik Baroque Orchestra. He is the founder of TAKT-TIME, an ensemble involving some of the most promising young percussionists on the Italian musical scene. In 2007, he won the percussion competition held by Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, and the one held in 2009 by the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia Orchestra, where he serves in the position of coordinator of the percussions section, and with which he has also performed as a soloist, playing music by Tan Dun. Very active in teaching, he is a teacher of the Master Courses at the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, and he has conceived the PercussJuni project, a workshop dealing with the musical education of children and young people; he has taught at the conservatories of Turin, Avellino, and Salerno, and has held master classes for several music institutions.
