Utah Symphony

Michael Pape joined the Utah Symphony as Section Percussion in 2015. Prior to his appointment, he served as Acting Section Percussion with the Utah Symphony. Mr. Pape spent five seasons as a percussionist with the Fort Wayne (IN) Philharmonic. During the 09/10 season, Michael held a one-year position with the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra. He performed with them on several national and international tours and recordings. He held positions with the Canton (OH) Symphony and the Civic Orchestra of Chicago and performed and recorded with the Chicago Symphony. In 2004, Michael was the winner of the 1st prize at the International Snare Drum Competition in Paris, France. He also received the best interpretation prize for his performance of Breakaway by Tim Adams. Michael received a Bachelors and Masters Degree in Percussion Performance from Carnegie Mellon University. His principal teachers are Timothy K. Adams and Paul Evans.
