Stephen Taylor is the founder and owner of StephensDrumShed.com as well as the creator of the Drum Better Daily system. His online drum school offers a way to learn the drums online in an organized, habitual, and goal oriented fashion.
Stephen began his playing career at the age of 15, landing his first paid gig playing percussion for a Christmas musical. By the age of 16 he was gigging regular playing stage shows, musicals, in original bands, in cover bands, and getting hired to play with the Mississippi Symphony Orchestra, Mobile Symphony Orchestra, and others.
At age 19, he landed the house drumming position for a band at The Famous Door on Bourbon Street. Throughout his late teens and early twenties, he cut his teeth playing nightly in clubs on Bourbon Street, in New Orleans, LA. After three years of gigging 5-6 days a week up to ten hour days, he relocated to pursue his education.
After completing his bachelors degree in Jazz Studies at the University of Southern Mississippi, he relocated to Nashville, TN. Upon moving to Nashville, he played and toured with independent and major label artists including Danielle Peck, Jason Jones, Meshach Jackson, and others. In 2010, his original music project Lovers and Liars was signed to Universal Republic Records and had several songs featured on MTV. In 2009 Stephen began teaching the drums on You Tube. 2011 saw the launch of his online drum school at www.StephensDrumShed.com, which he still runs today.
Between August 2022 and January 2024 Stephen was the full time touring drummer for the southern rock band The Steel Woods.
Stephen has self published 3 drum method books. current and past students having been featured on MTV, NBC, The Grammies, VH1, The Real World, the Dove Awards, The Blue Man Group, and have received various college scholarships.
Currently, Stephen maintains a busy touring, recording, and teaching schedule.
