Dawn currently performs with the dynamic and talented singer/songwriter Shana Morrison (daughter of Van Morrison). She has also toured and/or recorded with such diverse artists as Grammy winning singer/songwriter Tracy Chapman; Elettrodomestico (featuring Jane Wiedlin of the Go-Go’s); Joe Gore/Mental 99; Penelope Houston; Deborah Iyall; Margaret Cho; Spirit in the Room and many more. Dawn was a member of the band 4 Non Blondes and played on the hit song “What’s Up.


Dawn enjoys creating learning materials for drummers of all ages and levels with a focus on technique, creativity and fun. She is currently working with OnlineDrummer.com and has published the beginning book/course Beginner to Band; the full-length course/book, Chart Topping Drum Fills, the 60’s through today, and the e- book Rhythm Reader.

Dawn also has various drum method books published by Mel Bay Publications including Building Blocks of Rock; Fill Workbook; Block Rockin’ Beats; Kid’s Rock Drum Method; Beginning Rock Drum Chart.

    There's always more to do! Life is full of unexpected twists and turns and staying open to experience them keeps me going everyday. You never know what is going to happen next, really. Change is constant. There always seems to be a new musical project or a new drum book that I want to write - the journey is ongoing, for sure!

    Stay open and be prepared. You never know when opportunity might present itself. You want to be ready when it does. That takes years of practice. Preparation allows you to play and be creative with your skills and express yourself musically.
