Jonathan Fields, a drummer based in Cleveland, Oh is known for his colorful and innovative sound. Jonathan was born in Zanesville, OH, where his desire for music began in church. When he was a child he practiced by playing the pews, couch, and all the pots and pans he could find until his parents recognized his relentless passion and bought his first full size drum set. At the age of 9 years old Jonathan ended up in Cleveland OH, where it all started.  While studying mentors such as, Marvin McQuitty, Dennis Chambers, Teddy Campbell, Nisan Stewart, his hometown peers and more, Jonathan developed his unique style of playing drums. As a result Jonathan started playing drums professionally at the age of 16 receiving calls to play for many events/churches/clubs in Northeast Ohio and occasionally San Francisco CA. Jonathan went on to tour the world for four years becoming the youngest MD (Musical Director) in the company. Returning to the States in 2014, he began to engage and teach children how to play drums. He urges the younger generation to be organic and stay true to the music. After a short time being home Jonathan’s life changed once again after joining “Red Hands” an amazing stellar nominated inspirational band who have touched many lives throughout the world with their music. Jonathan also went on to complete two Seasons of NBC’s hit TV show named Songland. As well as playing w/ Beyonce, Monica, headlining Coachella with Khalid in 2019, and many more.

Jonathan is recognized as a very humble drummer and when asked about his success, he gives all glory to God. “I believe that opportunities come from God and with hard work, practice, and patience you will go far in life.”

  • WHAT INSPIRES YOU?

    Inspiration comes in many forms for me, but nothing inspires me more than sitting behind my kit. Nothing else gets me thinking and feeling how I do when I'm playing. It completely takes over. I also love watching other drummers I love and respect do what they do.

  • WORDS OF WISDOM FOR THE NEXT GENERATION OF DRUMMERS

    Be yourself. So many drummers try too hard to replicate what their heroes are doing... It's really important to have your own identity in order create a name for yourself. Another key thing is to play every single show like it's your last, whether it's an empty or packed room.

  • FAVORITE ZILDJIAN CYMBAL/COMBO

    My favourite Zildjian cymbal is the 20" K Crash Ride. It's got the perfect amount of weight that a ride cymbal has, but when crashed, it loses that weight and feels just right. I couldn't imagine my setup without it. It's the BEST.
