My name is Dami Alabi, I am a drummer, drum instructor / teacher, music composer, an artist and creator.Born and raised in Africa, Lagos Nigeria, however relocated to the United kingdom in 2015. I fell in love with drum rhythms right from my early years when we did parades in school ceremonies and when my parents took me to church, I made sure I sat as close as possible to the drum booth.
I train drummers here in London and across England, and also run online drum classes for international students in America, Canada, Africa etc. I'm also a professional session musician and have recorded well over 500 songs in the past 1year.
I developed and produced my first drum instructional DVD “Breakthrough” which was released in February 2019 and has sold over 200 physical copies and more so the e- version.
I am the founder of “Its More Than Drumming” (IMTD) which is an initiative to support up and coming artists (drummers) in Africa as well as identify and showcase talented drummers/musicians from local communities. This initiative provides a platform for the artistry of drumming to be appreciated and serves as a source of inspiration for young kids globally (We had the first UK event in 2018 which was sold out in Birmingham). This initiative was launched in 2016 with an average reach of 500 attendees per venue.
It has continued every year since then and in 2020 the showcase went virtual due to the pandemic but was still very successful with up to 1000 viewers live.
I have had the privilege to work with and still do support several mainstream recording Gospel and Afrobeat artists including: Nathaniel Bassey, Gabriel Eziashi, Limo Blaze, Yemi Alade, Cobhams Asuquo, Uche Agu, just to mention a few. I have also had the opportunity to play on one of the biggest stages in the world “The Experience Lagos” with around 500,000 people
