The Runarounds

I am a drummer originally from Amsterdam, now living in Atlanta, Georgia. I have been playing with an indie rock group named The Runarounds since 2020, which is the name of both the band itself and the Prime Video Original Series centered around our band, where we are portraying fictionalized versions of ourselves. What sets us apart from the music based TV shows and movies that have come before us, is that first of all, we write all of the music for the TV show ourselves, and have now been performing all of it on our debut US headlining tour since the release of the show in September 2025. also, all of the music is recorded 100% live on site, giving the show the most authentic feel possible. The band members are all musicians first and were casted purely for our musical abilities, and then within the long five year process of the project being in development, we were paired with an incredible acting coach named Rus Blackwell in order and get us up to speed, this was combined with the writer's team extensively interviewing us prior to creating the fictional characters, in order to tailor them to who we are as real people and make the acting as little of a stretch as possible. For my character's drumkit, I was asked by the production which drum companies I wished to represent, and I immediately pointed them in the direction of Zildjian Cymbals and Vic Firth sticks, as well as TAMA Drums. These have been my favorite companies throughout the entirety of my drumming life, as my father, Dion Murdock is also an endorser of Zildjian and TAMA, so I have grown up playing this gear, and to now be able to represent these incredible drumming companies in real life as well as within the fictional world, is an absolute dream come true for me. I am honored to be apart of the family!

  • WHAT INSPIRES YOU?

    I have been playing the drums since I was two years old, it is all I've ever known and honestly all I have ever been interested in pursuing as a career. Growing up with a professional drummer for a father, I spent a ton of time hanging around and learning from him, and after my 13th birthday, I started officially traveling with him as his drum tech, in order to properly learn the ropes about life on the road. I remained in this role all throughout high school up until I was 19 years old, shortly after joining The Runarounds project, and I would say that these years inspired me the most. I learned an incredible amount about what a smooth operation is meant to look like in terms of a touring production, and the excitement I've felt being around stages ever since I was a little kit, is what assured me that this is what I'd like to do with my life, and inspired me most.

  • WORDS OF WISDOM FOR THE NEXT GENERATION OF DRUMMERS

    I am only just starting my journey as a professional drummer, I'm very new to all of this, however I have recently had the pleasure of meeting a handful of young drummers who have been inspired by The Runarounds TV show, and it has warmed my heart to see kids picking up drumsticks because of me! The one thing I would like to say to the next generation of drummers is to share your talents with the world as soon as possible, social media is a wonderful tool that so many artists are using to expose themselves to the world, I would never hesitate to record drum covers and be consistent in sharing them on the internet, you never know who is watching on the other side of your screen!

  • FAVORITE ZILDJIAN CYMBAL/COMBO

    My favorite Zildjian cymbal of all time is the 21" A Ultra Hammered China! I've been including a china cymbal in my setup for the majority of my drumming life, and I've tried so many of them in search for my ideal china. I've been using this cymbal for about three years now and have never looked back, it gives me the power, the volume, and the pitch I have always been searching for, an added bonus is how incredibly resilient they are! I consider myself to be a fairly heavy hitter, and this china cymbal has really stood the test of time.
